Yes, the tone of the NG has changed. Hopefully for good. If your parody
indicates that you find the content boring or sophomoric then liven it
up, (with on-topic material presented in a civil manner).

Making fun of some of the content here isn't going to get everybody
back to arguing politics with you, (hopefully).

Rebuilding this NG is a process, not an event. With 99% of the
political bickering and name calling swept aside we will eventually
attract a greater number of boaters to the NG
and many of them will have useful comments, challenging questions, and
specific expertise to share. Give it a chance.

We've been like the residents of a trashed out shack that pile sewage
and garbage in the front yard and then complain that there isn't a
better class of people moving into the vacant houses on either side.

Every day we get beyond the "old" rec.boats the better our prospects
for permanent success. The group is proving that it can be done.
