Tom,
I thought he might really want to know that it was a used to plot the
constellations.

I think it is a hell of an item, that would look great on your coffee
table. It still is not to late for a Christmas present for yourself.

Which is fine, but the name is in the title and I didn't look first
before I clicked - I didn't realize it was an eBay deal and that
really got me PO'd. More at my own stupidity than anything.

Besides, he's wrong - it's a Armillary Sphere also known as a
Spherical Astrolabe based on the Copernican system of astronomy.
It's a little different in that it's based on a globe, but that's
because it's geocentric rather than heliocentric.

Later,

Tom

Well I guess he got his question answered. :-)

Damn, that is exactly what I was going to say.

But it sure would look pretty on the coffee table.

Hi,

I'm Dan, the original poster of the question. I am NOT selling this
item, although I do sell things on Ebay sometimes. You can see from
this message that my English is considerably better than that of the
Muscovite Ebay seller in question. My Russian, however, is nonexistent.
I do thank the people who answered my question. - Dan
