... JohnH, I think the word you are looking for is "haunting". Check out Evanescence (Amy Lee). Same quality, but not quiet as high pitched. I get chills listening to her sing. There's always the Joni Mitchell "Clouds" album. |

Joan Baez is 98% fake vibrato, and her range of tone is roughly the same as my table saw. :-) Joni, on the other hand.....holy smokes. |

I had to download Enya to see what or who he/she was. I found he was playing a number of songs I liked, but he screwed them up big time. Can you imagine if you were anchored in a quiet cove, and a boat pulled in playing Enya? I think the police would let you off with a warning if you sank his boat. All you would have to say is "... but Officer, he was playing Enya". ; ) I don't know who you downloaded, but Enya is female. My friends from Holland got me listening to her. Beautiful stuff. She's horrible. Every single album she's done since Orinoco Flow sounds exactly the same. Elevator music. Bad elevator music. |

I still say the best line I ever heard about Joan Baez was from Bob Dylan. He was asked about singing with her and he said "She's a pretty good lay". :-) |

Doug,
Totally different. Go stand in the corner for even suggesting she is similar to Amy Lee. "Doug Kanter" wrote in message ... "Reggie Smithers" Reggie( is my first name) Smithers wrote in message ... But life and use has passed her by - give it up. Interesting, though: The R.I.T. college station played a few songs from her first 3 albums one night, a few months back. The DJ said he was getting calls from people on campus, asking who the new artist was. He let them dangle for an hour or so, and then explained it. If you didn't know her first stuff was released in the late 60s, it might actually sound fresh. It's all a matter of expectations, I guess. |
