Did he deserve what he got, too?
Harry,
If the individual, who by ALL accounts, was acting very irrational, whom according to numerous passengers and the Sky Marshals, claimed his was carrying a bomb, whom refused to obey the sky marshals, whom according to his wife was bi-polar and was on a manic high, whom when asked to lie on they ground he reached into his luggage, had successfully set off a bomb and killed innocent people would you think the Sky Marshal's had failed to do their job? Is it possible that you are blinded by politics? "Edward Markey, a Democratic congressman from Mass*achusetts, said: "Thanks to the efforts of an alert air marshal an individual was prevented from causing a potentially dangerous situation on the American Airlines flight that could have harmed passengers and crew members." Mr. Markey said the incident underscored the need to scrap plans to allow passengers to carry certain kinds of scissors on to aircraft. " FT.com "Harry Krause" wrote in message ... Yesterday, a poster here claimed that the fellow who was shot dead in Miami by the air marshals "deserved what he got," supposedly because he did not pay attention to the guys waving the guns. What about Ronald Shulz? If he's been killed, did he also "deserve what he got?" After all, *any* mentally stable person would know that any American taking a job in Iraq woule be exposing himself to extraordinary danger and more than a remote possibility of being shot, kidnapped, tortured, or killed. Right? Wouldn't you have to be seriously mentally ill to not know that? I'm not, by the way, minimizing Mr. Schulz' possible demise, or the agony his family must be feeling. But, should Schulz have "known better" than to walk down that jetway from the plane that flew him to Iraq? Are the fellow killed in Miami and Schulz both victims of "the war on terror"? Do both lives represent equal losses? Did either one of these men (assuming Schulz is dead; hopefully he isn't and will be released) deserve to die? Really? Are you sure? Are these easy questions for you? U.S. checking claim hostage killed (CNN) -- The family of an American held hostage in Iraq pleaded for his safe release as U.S. officials worked to confirm a claim on the Internet that indicated he had been killed. Ronald Schulz, 40, an electrician who had been working in Iraq, was kidnapped by insurgents around November 25. The group demanded jailed Islamic Army fighters to be released and for compensation be paid to families in hard-hit province. On Thursday, several Islamic militant Web sites posted a claim from a group calling itself the Islamic Army in Iraq that it had killed "the American security consultant for the Housing Ministry" after the United States failed to respond to its demand of the release of Iraqi prisoners. A similar claim was posted early Friday on a Web site known to be used by the Islamic Army. -- No Child Left Behind: There are always jobs in the military. |
