mmmmm - jelly fish...
The place where my company first had its lab, we shared with a biotech
start-up company. This company had this scheme to harvest cannonball jellyfish and turn them into collogen for cosmetics etc. They would get huge numbers of these things from shrimpers, dump em into plastic barrells filled with lye solution. This would stew awhile and then they did more magic and then they heated the mess. When they did this, the whole place smelled like a Chinese restaurant gone bad. I'd get to work on those days and have to call my employees and tell em not to come to work due to the stench. I dunno if this scheme worked or not cuz we moveed out. HOWEVER, it was nothing compared to their perpetual motion chicken feed. They had another bizarre scheme to take chicken ****, dissolve it, somehow get the undigested nutrients and protein out of it and make it back into chicken feed. You have no idea how bad a smell can be until you've smelled fermented chicken **** stewing. I told em that I thought this violated the laws of thermodynamics but they didnt listen. Then there was the anti-cancer treatment that was s'posed to render the cancer more to radiation treatment. They asked me to write glowing reports to the feds but it turned out they were having research done in China on prisoners so I said no way and threatened to call the authorities. I soon got some very weird calls from China. The last straw occurred when they acquired a bunch of very large freezers that I never paid much attention to. One day, one of my employees walked in with a horrified look on his face and asked me if this biotech company was into cannabilism or maybe Soylent Green. I said, "I dunno" and he said "Whatever you do, dont open those freeezers". I didnt, we moved that week. |

Unless you get it fresh which is an experience in and of it'self. I think the fermented would be worse. My grandparents were egg ranchers in Turlock, Cal. And they ran a couple of thousand head of chickens. Sort of free range in those days, and I did not find the smell as bad as the dairy farm part of the ranch my uncle ran. |
