Wondering how our NG denizens fared on Black Friday. Any fights? My best

No one in this household, resident or guest, wanted to wander out among
hoi polloi for "bargain prices" on goods made in the People's Republic
of China. I did zip out to the supermarket to pick up a few needed
groceries to feed the teeming masses staying with us.

Monday is Cyber Monday, the best internet deals may well be offered
then. Are you prepared to take advantage of this event?

I did manage to shoot off two entire boxes of ammo out back, though, in

Good moves. Went to WallyWorld (after the mad rush) and got them to
price match a game camera that was on sale across town and bought gas
for $1.92/gal.(no crowds, easy parking - the vultures had already
picked the bargains clean and left). Met a guy and bought a nice
Remington 11-87 for a good price - shot a round of skeet to try it
out. Ran to the bay and plugged the charger in on the boat then mowed
the grass and planted 5 fruit trees. Had dinner at a dive on the water
but the mosquitos ran us inside off the deck. Great day - didn't miss
the crowds one bit. Only regret was that I didn't have time to put the
boat in and run it.

I'm not Kevin, you idiot.

I find it just comical as hell that before you bought your boat, you
never, ever once asked someone to post a picture of their boat, but
after you finally had one, that's become your mantra. I'll bet you've
asked that of others here at least 100 times since, but geez, look
prior to your buying an old used boat, and guess what? Not once!!!!!!

You went skeet shooting with a short-barrel cop shotgun? How's your
shoulder? Yeouch!

I'm part of a small group of friends chipping in to buy a buddy who is
retiring soon a new hunting rifle. I don't hunt critters, but the buddy
does, mostly deer. Gives me the willies, but he's a good friend.

You must have the 11-87 mixed up with something else. It's a gas
operated semi automatic fitted with a Briley recoil pad. Very little
recoil. Check this link
http://www.remington.com/products/fi...87_premier.asp

They do make a tactical version but I'm sure the recoil is minimal
with it as well. I do have a Winchester 1300 pump with a short barrel
and pistol grip and there is no doubt in your mind when you've fired
it, especially with 3" shells, but I would never take it to a skeet
range.

Saw your post on rec.guns and I'll have to admit your friend is a
lucky man.. :-) Hope you find what you need for him.

No. Just hold it tightly against your shoulder, as you should any rifle or

You're right. With the reading glasses on, it says, "2-1/4" and 3". So, I

I explained in detail how the compensation was figured. You read it. It
was a modest salary and a commission based on about one third of the gross
profit on billings.

Don,
I think you just won the Boobie Prize.

Now what are you going to do with Harry?

I do have a Winchester 1300 pump with a short barrel

and pistol grip and there is no doubt in your mind when you've fired
it, especially with 3" shells, but I would never take it to a skeet
range.

The shotgun I have has, engraved in the barrel, "Winchester 1300, 20
ga. 2k & 3'."

What does that mean? I've never fired it. Is it going to dislocate my
shoulder if I do?

The 1300 is a fairly popular pump action shotgun. Unlikely a 20 gauge
is going to bruise you. I'd guess the "3" refers to 3-inch shells. Look
closer at the engravings.

You're right. With the reading glasses on, it says, "2-1/4" and 3".
So, I assume these are the shells it takes. When I bought it, the
salesman sold me a box of 3" "game shot" shells that, according to him,
would not let me miss a defenseless rattler.

So, where do the bullets go in the gun?

I'm not going to tell you. I am going to suggest that you call a local
target range, gun dealer, or hunt club, or look up an NRA instructor, and
make an appointment for a shooting lesson or two, and instructions on
shotgun handling BEFORE you put shells in that shotgun. You also need
hearing protectors and eye protection. Really.

Firearms are dangerous. You need to know how to handle a shotgun and how
not to shoot yourself, a neighbor, or a loved one BEFORE you fire it.

Is Eisboch pulling our leg? Anyone who has watched as much tv as an
average person should be able to disamble, clean and rebuild a 12 ga
shotgun while blindfolded and with one arm tied behind their back.
