Been looking at replacing the CRT monitor with an LCD one to gain desk
space. Bought a Sceptre at Costco. $269. 19" 12ms response time and 1000
contrast. Very nice monitor. As my sife says, I can now read from across
the room.

BTW: There are $30 and $70 rebates on this monitor at tigerdirect.com.
They are selling it for $199.

There is another way to accomplish the same thing when you respond to an
off topic post. Simply add "OT", as I did, and it will go away for
those of us who filter "OT" posts.

That said, this particular thread is far less of a distraction (to me,
at least) than the daily political debates. I have filtered only a
small group of individual posters who don't seem to post here anymore -
or no one is replying to them. I have also filtered the obvious
political keywords but that might cut the BS in half at best. "An
addition to the check is in the mail routine" is impossible to filter
as an off topic post. It would have been nice if the OP had simply
added "OT" to the subject.
