U.S. Launches Major Offensive Near Syrian Border;
Two U.S. Troops Killed in Other Areas of Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq Nov 5, 2005 — American and Iraqi forces launched a major
offensive Saturday near the porous Syrian border aimed at destroying
al-Qaida in Iraq's ability to smuggle foreign fighters, money and
equipment through the region.

The U.S. military also announced that two soldiers were killed by
insurgents in other areas of Iraq on Friday.

The offensive in the town of Husaybah of about 2,500 U.S. forces and 1,000
Iraqis including local forces acting as scouts will remove insurgents from
the western province of Anbar ahead of Iraq's parliamentary election on
Dec. 15, the U.S. military said.

A "major offensive" is not 2,500 trained soldiers and 1,000 guys with
learner permits.

No? How long would it take 3500 soldiers to go through your neighborhood
and kill or lock up all of the military age males?

Of course, since you never told us the town you live in, I don't know the
demographics and number of people who live there.

I don't live in a town.

"This is my kind of town, Chicago is, My kind of town..."

Town=city. Unless you're being anal.

I don't live in a town or a city. I live in what probably might best be
described as an area, part of a fairly large county. There are plenty of
places within the county aren't in townships or cities.

That would describe the part of Naples ("north Naples") that I live
in...since I'm not in the "incorporated" city of Naples. But if someone
asks what town I live in, I answer "Naples".
