Man, you are hopeful but perhaps for no good reason. Please read
closely the second sentence in the first paragraph.

"Karl Rove, President Bush's senior adviser and deputy chief of staff,
will not be charged on Friday, but will remain under investigation,
people briefed officially about the case said. As a result, they said,
the special counsel in the case, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, was likely to
extend the term of the federal grand jury beyond its scheduled
expiration on Friday."

You think that means he's off the hook?

Tighten those blinders a little more toothy boy, you're going to need
less blood flow to continue your one man parade of denial.

You bet there is. He was the personal attorney for Marc Rich.

I'm sure you remember Rich. If not, then read up on today's news about
Volker's report regarding the UN oil for food program. He's mentioned in
there.

" The report also found that Marc Rich & Co, a fugitive financier pardoned
by former President Bill Clinton , financed the purchase, including the
surcharges, of 4 million barrels of oil for the son of a French
parliamentarian. "

You can bet that the Clinton's aren't too happy that Libby may be put in a
position of facing jail time unless he cuts a deal and starts singing. The
secrets in that man's head can do harm to both the current President *and*
his predecessor.

*If* that story is accurate, personally I expect not, hang on to your hat.
Fitzgerald's mandate is to follow the investigation where it leads. If
he extends the grand jury, I would expect he would then be looking into
*all* crimes pertaining to the Niger documents, not just the Plame leak.
Face it, he has been looking at this for two years. The leak, any
perjury or obstruction charges should, by now, have been thoroughly
investigated. Libby could be done for, Rove might escape, but if the
grand jury is extended, watch out. It means his sights are higher.

Bert,
That is the key, people are accusing others of breaking the law, based upon
newspaper stories. We need to stop trying legal battles in the newspapers,
and allow our courts and grand juries to do their job.

You might be right. It's damn frustrating with Fitzgerald running such a
tight ship, no leaks. There's so much speculating with so little to go
on, but it is damn interesting. Right now, I'm thinking there's a pretty
good chance of no indictments, but if that Time's article is right about
extending the grand jury . . .

I alos don't think that a prosecutor, having found that no one broke that
law, should be able to carry on an investigation endlessly until he trips
up somebody in front of a grand jury.......and that goes for Ken Starr as
well.
