Default p[lastic wood for boat trailer runners

Has anyone had experience with replacing the carpet covered runners on
a trailer with these plastic wood 2x4 things? I've heard that you can
do this w/o the carpet and that the decreased friction makes loading
and unloading much easier. Only issue could be scratching. Not sure
how the plastic wood would be any different than those runners that are
sold for attaching to the wood in place of the carpet to achieve a
similar effect.

tks

Don
