Jim Carter wrote: Bush has announced that Harriet Meirs is the newest member of the Supreme Court. Jim She's not yet a member of the court. Despite the fond wishes of certain people, this is still a representative government and she will not be a member of the court until or unless confirmed by congress. The people run this country, not the POTUS. Let's hope she's as good a choice as the last one. I don't know anything about her, but if GWB is hoping to plant an arch-conservative on the bench he will run into a lot stiffer fight in congress than the "freebie" he got with relatively moderate, somewhat centrist Roberts. I'll personally feel better about the choice when the most extreme righties begin to gripe she's not "conservative enough" (as they did with the Chief Justice). :-) |

You really are now showing that you don't know too much about Canada's history. The most famous regiment in Canada is the Royal 22'd. This is an all French speaking unit of the Canadian Military. It has never surrendered and never retreated in it whole history. This is a unit that has taken more battle honors than any other unit. Never confuse this with anything from France! All you have to do is ask any of your US Marines, which of the Canadian regiments that was part of the "top gun" for Tanks and jungle warfare beat them in competition. Also, your 10th mountain division was beaten in a winter exercise by a Canadian unit..... Answer.....Royal 22'd or as the yanks call them " Van Doos" ( Just for you NOYB, that translate to "22" from French to English ) Jim |

I ran into a pike a couple of weeks ago - small one in the 28 inch range - nothing major, but a ton of fun on a light rod. I've been concentrating on crappie fishing in fresh water and bluefish in salt - I have a friend who smokes bluefish and, while I'm not a big fan of smoked anything, this is pretty good. Do me a favor. Don't tell me about bluefish until next April. I want to get to Montauk before Thanksgiving, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Smoked bluefish is outrageous. I have a recipe for a remoulade that goes great with smoked fish. I'll sell it to you in return for a used handheld GPS unit. :-) |

That reminds me of the old joke about the Irishman who asked his buddy,
"Paddy, when I die I want you to pour a quart of the very best Irish Whiskey over my grave" His buddy thought about it for a minute and then replied "I definitely will Mick, but do you mind if I filter the whiskey through my kidneys first?." Since I am part Irish, I think that allows me to make a Irish joke and still be PC. "Doug Kanter" wrote in message ... Blah.
