Advice on inexpensive boat for Bay fishing in RI

I'm thinking about getting an inexpensive boat to take on short (few
hour) fishing trips around narragansett bay in RI - mostly 1/2 mile
off from shore - nothing more.

Can a 16ft aluminum boat handle this in calm weather? Can it handle
the salt? What size motor ?

Any other fisherman on a budget out there with some advice for me?

regards
mikes

You'll be OK on a calm day but when the afternoon southerly kicks in
you will be happier in something bigger. If it was me looking for
something in that size range, I'd probably get a Boston Whaler.
