johnson 65hp water in cylinder
Hi Folks:
This engine will crank, start almost instantly, then stall. Then bind a bit, crank some more (actually much more) untill I pull the plugs. The lower cylinder of this three cylinder in line is being pumped with water. I pulled the head off, cranked, and I see alot of water in the exhaust ports of the lower cylinder. I was hoping for a broken head gasket. Maybe this will not be too bad. The compression was good. This cylinder/piston seems a bit tight/dry as it squeeks when I crank it by hand. Understandable if all the oil is washed off. Could this be just a blown gasket in this exhaust manifold/box on the side of the engine? It looks like a pain to change, although I did get all the bolts loose without snapping! Thanks for any help/info! Take Care! Harry |
