Default Boat lift question

I was raising my boat last weekend when the rear cradle cable snapped. If this has never
happened to you then you have no idea how frightening this was. I was thinking about how
many times I had driven under the boat to store my paddleboat. Well at least death would
come quickly! After calling the local boat lift repair companies, I realized that unless I
attempt the repair myself, I'm looking at a 4-6 week wait. Well it certainly seems easy
enough. Famous last words for sure! My question is... does anyone have sufficient
knowledge of lift systems to steer me in the right direction when it comes to getting a
proper cable. I think that the lift is a Doozie 3000# system. It looks like 3/16 braided
cable.
When I went looking for cable there were more choices than I had expected. My boat is a
Wellcraft Eclipse 196S which the manual says weighs 2700# net. Any suggestions on cable
replacement or installation tips would be extremely welcome.
