My Mariner 15 has a rubber donut under a bolt to adjust the steering
tension. So your spring bolt probably does also.

Hi,

I have a 1989 Johnson 15hp, and the (tiller) steering is kinda stiff.
There is a grease nipple on the shaft, but also a bolt with spring on it.
Does the bolt adjust steering stiffness, or should I just grease it?

Lloyd

You're correct, Bill. My Johnson 15 is adjustable this way.

Thanks!
