Trying to identify a boat

I was visiting a friend on our lake today, and noticed 3 boats in the water.

I am trying to identify the manufacturer.

They are small power boats, maybe 8-10 feet in length. They are single
seaters, but I saw one with an adult and child beside her. Their size was
very similar to a large Jetski. They were completely white, and had a
spoiler on the back. They each had what appeared to be an antenna of some
kind, about a foot tall, in the back near the spoiler. The engine was
outboard, and there was a steering wheel.

Our lake limits us to 10 HP maximum. Somehow I doubt these were within the
limits, but maybe, I don't know much about boats. That is why I thought I
would post here. Someone at the party said they thought they were made by
Yamaha, but I went to the Yamaha site, and they had nothing close to these.

Sorry I don't have any more information. I was never close enough to the
boats to see any sort of identification. For all I know, there are a dozen
manufacturers of these types of craft. But maybe someone in this group can
point me in the right direction. I'm very interested in purchasing one of
these.

TIA

Trying to identify a boat

I remember something about some small boats like this that they tried
renting at disney in fl. If I recall they were made by a big company like
yamaha. Didn't work out or something. There are small one/two seater
finberglass boats with outboards around. I think there is a class of then
that races. I'm not sure you can get even a small planing boat on plan with
a 10hp motor though.

Trying to identify a boat

Thanks for the info James.

I really want to find out where to get one of these. I could not tell where
the boats docked on the lake when they were done.

They sure seemed bigger than 10hp, but they were very small and probably
light -- who knows, maybe they do get some pretty good speed even with only
10hp...

Still looking for more ideas from anyone else...

I think they were originally made for DisneyWorld by MerCruiser several
years ago.
I've since seen them for rent in San Diego Bay.

Trying to identify a boat

They certainly look like them. A further search yielded this page

http://www.goboatingamerica.com/main/article.asp?id=342

Made by Mercury. No longer listed anywhere on their web site. Guess they
were short lived. Don't know how 3 of them wound up on our lake. Maybe
someone else makes them too.

Specs in the article indeed confirm that they had 9.9HP engines.

Would love to find out if someone else is making this type of craft now. If
not, I may have to hunt around for a used one.
