Garmin Fishfinder/Lund Boat Troubles

I am struggling with trying to get my Garmin 240 Fishfinder to consistantly
read the depth. I am getting a very inconsistant reading. Even when I'm
getting a reading it's only a very narrow black line that indicates the bottom.
The line will start to get smaller and smaller eventually fading out with the
depth reading blinking. I have moved this thing all over the back of the
transom; left, right, up and down with no change in the results.

Has any one else had this problem. How did you solve it? Thanks so much in
advance!

Garmin Fishfinder/Lund Boat Troubles

My Garmin only produces blinking numbers when I'm at higher speeds. Because
of the design of my Lund (WC-14, one of the very basic models), there was
simply no place to mount the transducer in a way that avoided all
turbulence. I take a practical view, though. If I'm really concerned about
running aground, I should be going slower and looking at the chart. If I'm
hunting for fishing structure, I just slow down a bit.

At what speeds are you experiencing problems?
