Hone cyl on Johnson 35hp

If I replace the piston rings, should I hone the cylinders?

No damage to cylinders nor pistons as far as I can see. The cylinder walls
are diagonally scratched otherwise almost as clear as a mirror. Previous
hone job maybe?

1984 Johnson 35hp, original OMC pistons, new Sierra piston rings.

Yes,
Honing removes the glaze, allowing the new rings to bed in
better/quicker than if not honed.
