Trolling Motor Help Needed
I acquired an electric motor with the (well-used) sailboat I bought.
The name plate says PFLUEGER. It has a Rev/Fwd switch on the left side of the plate. On the right side is a High/Med/Low switch. The center has a light that says "6 or 12 volts" beside it, the word "Supreme" below that, and at the bottom is an unlabled slide switch. With the switch in the left position and connected to a 12 volt battery the light comes on and the prop turns. With the switch in the right position the light is OFF - and the prop still turns when connected to a 12 volt battery. I can't tell any speed difference (to speak of) between either switch position (the only noticeable difference being wheather the light is on or off). Can someone tell me which position is the correct one for 12 volt operation so I don't ruin the motor? Obviously I don't want to operate the thing out of the water for any length of time, or even in water if the wrong setting is used. Also, only the High and med speed positions work, slow doesn't do anything (irrespective of the 6/12 switch position). Any hints on fixing this? I've got a funny feeling I can't just buy that switch at Radio Shack. :-) Cheers, Ed Humphries Atlanta, Georgia |
