Default FBI Warns of Bombs Floating Around Marinas

FBI warns of possible deadly floating material

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The FBI issued a warning last week for state and
local authorities to be on the lookout for booby-trapped floating
material in and around the nation's marinas, warning they could contain
explosives.

(Are those damned righties trying to save a few bucks on holding tank
pump-outs?)

A homeland security official told CNN on Sunday there is "no
intelligence terrorists are planning to or want to do this."

The official said the warning was sent in a weekly bulletin to 18,000
state and local agencies, a lightly classified alert that outlines
possible tactics terrorists could use.

The bulletin says plastic-foam containers, inner tubes and even buoys
could be rigged to blow up on contact.

Currently, the national terrorism alert level is "yellow," or "elevated."

On May 28, the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice
Department issued a joint statement citing "credible intelligence" of a
threat to the nation.

"Credible intelligence from multiple sources indicates that al Qaeda
plans to attempt an attack on the United States during" the period
leading up to the November elections, according to the statement by
Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.

Credible intelligence? The FBI? The Department of Homeland Security?
Anything connected with the Bush Administration?

The report that I read said "beer coolers". You should be happy, Harry.
That hits right at the heart of the beer-drinking "Nascar Dads" who
overwhelmingly support Bush.

Derelict Reinell's with half a tank of fuel?

Then why put out the alert? We keep hearing that another attack is imminent,
but there are never any specific details or threats listed. Here's a specific
threat, with a disclosure that there is *no* intelligence
stating the terrorist are planning or wanting to do this. What's the point?

The good news is, I think you can buy duct tape and vizqueen at most
chandleries.

They can be identified by the large letters "Bayliner" painted on the
floating booby-traps.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Sheesh... *I* resisted.
