Is that still legal in SF?

Up this way there's no problem with changing zincs, but bottom cleaning is now
generally forbidden unless the vessel is hauled out.

How are the racing sailors dealing with that? Most of the guys I know
get the bottom cleaned once a week just to stay competetive.

Don't personally know a lot of racing sailors, but they are all equally
disadvantaged.

The theory is that all the poison in the bottom paint will kill off any
vegetation in the marina if chunks of paint are knocked loose during a
scraping.

Our boatyards are required to collect all the residue from pressure washing and
treat or filter it.

Most of our tide grids have been shut down for similar reasons.
