yamaha 4-stroke leaking oil

Hopefully someone here can cast some light on this problem.

I have a 1999 100HP Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. The engine is leaking oil.
It becomes most apparent when the engine is off and tilted forward. However
I believe the leak occurs when the engine is running (under oil pressure)
and simply shows itself more apparently when at rest (sfter pooling occurs
in the pan).

The problem is when I look at the service manual I can't see anyplace that
may be leaking other then the oild pan itself (which is very difficult to
get to).

Anybody have any experience with this? Does anyone know the extent of the
work involved in replacing an oil pan gasket on one of these motors??

Thanks,
--Mike

Are you sure it is not just coming from the exhaust port on the top, rear of
the leg?
If I do a lot of slow speed running I see that on my 60 merc/yammy. It will
actually run inside the leg covers and show up at the top of the foot joint. My
mechanic says it is really gas, not oil.

No it's oil. Afer taking a closer look at the pitiful shop manual, it looks
like it may be the seal on the oil pump.
any machanics out there have any idea of the extent of this job?? 1999
100HP Yamaha 4 stroke.
