Testing a Stator???

Does anyone know a good easy way to test a stator? number
2 cyl, has a weak spark, i have already switched the coils
around and and is still weak on 2.
The motor is a 1986 85hp Force 3 cylinders.
Thanks for any suggestions

If the stater or pack was bad and you switch wires around on coils you
should have weak spark on wich ever coial you moved no 2 wire to. Sounds
like a bad coil if you moved wires and spark stayed weak on no 2

Not sure on the Force engine but on a mercury and OMC's you have a timing
base on the crank which sends a pulse to a "switch box" or "Powerpack" which
fires each coil. If you just switched coils it could still be your Switch
Box/ Powerpack which is a good thing as the timing base is a much more
spendy item. I live on the west coast and used www.boatingsolutions.com out
of WA with great results on my OMC they have good prices and quick service.

Here's the link for the switch box

Good luck
