Johnson Problem"HELP"

I have a 2000 70 HP Johnson. After it warms up it drops the bottom cylinder. I
have replaced the power pack, the coil, and am now being told it's the timer
base. Is this right or could it be something else. Also, if one of these go
bad could it damage any of the other parts. I have tried to locate the timer
base part # 584804 but have no luck. All help would be appreciated.

Yep that timer base could do that but there should be a test for it. I just
did one on a Polaris PWC it looked like something Rube Goldburg would be
proud of with a 9v battery and an ohm meter checking resistance. I have a
100 hp Commercial that was firing twice replacing the powerpacks did the
trick as I didn't like the idea of changing the spendy timerbase as they
also recommend changing out the stator while you have the flywheel off. A
buddy just had it done on a 115 Mariner at a whopping $800 for "Switchbox"
(cdi unit), stator and the timing base.

As for parts if you live on the West Coast try www.boatingsolutions.com they
really helped me.
