FISHING VESSEL SINKING, COAST GUARD
RESPONDING

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is responding to a 50-foot Canadian fishing
vessel taking on water 65 miles west of Long Beach, Wash.


Coast Guard Group/Air Station Astoria, Ore., received a distress call
from the operator of the fishing vessel Scotian on VHF channel 16 at
7:30 a.m., reporting his vessel was taking on water.

The operator reported the vessel's position to the Coast Guard while
the crew prepared their life raft for relese. The crew donned
lifejackets and activated their emergency position indicating radio
beacon. An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Astoria and a
47-foot motor lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor, Wash.,
were launched to assist.
The helicopter located the Scotian and lowered two dewatering pumps to
the vessel. The crew is attemping to dewater the vessel.

Does a female CG person get "debabied", instead of giving birth? Gotta love
the military - they come up with a mechanical name for every damned thing.
