As always you come through with an excellent suggestion, what would I do without you? ; ) Hey if I can get off next July I would love to do the Marblehead to Halifax Race. Do you know of anyone who needs crew for the race. I normally work pit, but will do the sewer or grind. The only job I don't like is foredeck. Have you ever done the race or participated in the after race parties? You might have a better chance of catching a ride with the Boston Yacht Club gang. American yachts make up the majority of the boats. You never know though...try here at the club our skipper belongs to... http://www.rnsys.com/ There is an area set aside for the Marblehead/Halifax Ocean Race. I haven't done the race...as I tend to get seasick out in heavier swells and always worried about being in the way during a 2-3 day race such as this. My former co-worker, a female, loved going to the parties as it was a chance to meet 'rich American sailors'. I wasn't interested so avoided the club...way too busy compared to the sedate normal atmosphere. |

Thanks for the suggestion. The Marblehead - Halifax race is a two day race
with a party before and after the race, so it makes for a nice week long vacation. The Halifax to St. -Pierre Race would probably take two weeks for the race and activities. I have always found sleeping on board will help you get your sea legs. "Don White" wrote in message ... Don White wrote: snip... I'm sure you're aware that the next race is 2007! At the time, I was bringing home about $130/mo, counting the wife's allotment. We didn't have enough money to do much 'touristing'. The 196th Brigade, my unit, was gearing up for Vietnam, so I didn't have a lot of free time. We did manage to get to the dog races in Boston, I think, a couple times a month.
