Shrink wrap vs no shrink wrap

Hi all. I have a brand new Catalina 350 that I spent this Summer
sailing. I'm up in the Boston MA area. Well I"m about to have it
pulled and of course my boat yard wants to know if I want it shrink
wrapped or not, and to be honest I'm not sure, so I thought I"d see if I
could get some wisdom from you very knowledgeable people!

Thanks
Jim

While I do not own a boat nor have any experience with wrapping vs. not
wrapping a boat, I was just reading about a new product meant to help
with moisture buildup do to shrink wrapping. "Dr. Shrink's DS-683SP
self-adhesive vent with a high speed solar-powered fan". There was
very short write up about the product on page 157 of the Sept. issue of
Cruising World.

Please do let the list know what you find out about shrink wrapping.

Since you spent all kinds of $$$$$$$$$ for your boat, why not invest in a
proper canvas cover? Course, you'll have to install the thing yourself.

Wouldn't shrink wrapping just seal any moisture in? I thought part of
the attraction of hauling out in winter was to allow the boat to dry
out.

The moisture is below the waterline, the area above is the part that gets
wrapped.
