(on topic) Small world department

I arrived at my boat show booth for the 11AM opening and discovered
that an early morning visitor had stopped by and left a business card.
Peggie Hall.

I called her cell phone and we agreed to try to do lunch while she's in
Seattle.

Small world part two: scheduled immediately after me on the seminar
stage today? Peggie Hall. :-)

What fun to meet this very nice lady, I'm looking forward to lunch.

Everything I have ever read from Peggy in this NG and other forums has been
informative and spot on. She seems like a class act.

Enjoy your lunch together.

Lunch will be today, Sat.

Seminars have been sparsely attended so far on he first few weekdays of
the show. In fact, the gate has not been all that good for the show
overall. Rainy weather on Friday morning hurt the show yesterday. My
crowd for the first session of "Lunatic Tides" was small, but they said
they found the presentation entertaining and informative (you could see
the "light coming on" in a few cases) and so AFAIAC that makes the time
spent worthwhile. The first session of the "D'Arcy Island" talk was
sparsely attended as well, and plagued by a "slide show" problem (!)
Grrr.......

I'll check out Peggie's talk this morning. Crowds will be much larger
(everybody hopes) now that the weekend is here.

I have been able to meet a couple of world famous sailors, Lyn and
Larry Pardey. Their booth is right next to mine at the show. What a
couple of nice folks, and salty as heck. Larry tells me he doesn't even
have an engine in his boat, and has to sail everywhere under any and
all conditions.
(He does have a dinghy with an outboard, so he can tow his boat through
locks, etc, where it isn't permissable to sail). That's pretty
hardcore.

Peggie in person proves to be a wonderful extension of Peggie on the
internet. What you see is what you get.

Her seminar "Flush with Success" was well attended this morning, and
she wound up selling books to about half the crowd. She really does
know her subject matter very well, she has a wonderful time helping
people and her audience picks up on that and has a wonderful time
listening.

We had a great lunch and chatted for about an hour.

Excellent. Probably saved the show for a lot of people. We almost ran
out of magazines to pass out, and will before the end of the day today.
I need to go by the storeroom and grab a few bundles of previous issue
leftovers so that we aren't sitting there waving at the crowd from an
empty booth. :-)
My friend and one of our feature writers, Jim Wood, sold a few books so
he was pleased with the day as well.

Tide seminar was well attended, people asked good questions, and I even
earned a round of applause. Today is the D'Arcy Island talk again. This
is actually the most interesting of these two presentations (IMO), but
it has proven harder to get a good turnout for the D'Arcy presentation
at this and
previous boat shows. Oh well.
