Hello,

Thanks to all who replied to my earlier post! ok.... now my new problem...
yesterday i replaced the water pump on my johnson 235 hp and changed the
gear oil. Today i started and ran the engine and after i finished running
it i went to check & "top off" the outdrive oil. after removing the vent
plug, i noticed that the new oil that i had just put in was now "milky"
looking. Obviously water had has gotten in to the lower unit gearcase.

Now for my question: Is it safe to assume that the water entered the
gearcase either from the oil seal underneath the water pump or the oil
seal
on the shift shaft? Could it enter the gearcase from any other
locations
besides these two?

any information would be helpful!!

thanks in advance!

The prop shaft seal.

You never really gave us the history. Your last post was trying to find out
the year of the motor. Is this motor new to you? If so do you know it's
previous history? Check behind the prop for fishing line in the seal.
