Not really. Think about it, Harry.

It reminds me of Harry's blocking us from seeing any photos of the 36'

If you've plonked him that many times, how come you're still reading and
responding to his messages? :-)

Bryan September 7th 05 10:35 PM

No Harry, It doesn't remind me of anything.
Why the hell should we let the media play to our basest interests with
photos of the dead.
We know too many people died.
Collect them and bury them with dignity, otherwise leave them the hell
alone.
Just my initial response to the post.
Maybe with time and thought I might see it differently.

FEMA Blocks Photos of New Orleans Dead

NEW YORK Forced to defend what some critics consider its slow response to
the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the Federal Emergency
Management Agency said on Tuesday it does not want the news media to take
photographs of the dead as they are recovered from New Orleans.

FEMA, which is leading the rescue efforts, rejected requests from
journalists to accompany rescue boats as they went out to search for storm
victims, Reuters reported.

A FEMA spokeswoman told the wire service that space was need on the rescue
boats and assured Reuters that "the recovery of the victims is being
treated with dignity and the utmost respect."

"We have requested that no photographs of the deceased be made by the
media," the spokeswoman told Reuters via e-mail.

If I were a photo editor, I'd tell FEMA, "up yours."
Remind anyone of the Bushcrap Administration's efforts to conceal the body
bags of returning dead from its war against Iraq?

You don't suppose it has anything to do with respect for the families?

Would you like to see your sister "bloated and floating" on CNN,
simply so they can sell more products to the assholes who like to look
look at this kind of stuff?

I think it important for the public to see 10,000 body bags.

I think *you* want to see it, Harry. You *are* one sick puppy.

Actually, no. It has to do with limiting the damage caused by
appointing incompetent political appointees to the top posts in FEMA.
If the Bush clan had any concern or respect for the families Bush
would have appointed competent, experienced administrators to such an
important post. There are plenty of meaningless places to place folks
who you owe political favors to, and FEMA isn't one of them, as the NO
tragedy proves. Is your city next? Will you be so quick to justify
the ineptness of political appointees if it's your family and friends
who die?

Right wing, left wing, center wing, enough is enough. Important jobs
are being filled with incompetent political appointments. Everything
is now political. CIA, FBI, FEMA, UN, Supreme Court, everything is
going to the extreme. Nothing is for the good of the nation,
everything is for the good of the political party in power. Yeah, we
all sit around and squabble among ourselves, but we are the ones who
pay the price. The country is going to hell in a hand basket, nobody
is accountable for anything, and all we do is squabble among ourselves
because our "team" is in power/out of power. Fact is, both teams
suck.

No, you don't. You just want any kind of tawdry, revolting visuals that the
left can try to use to lambast the WH, no matter how irrelevant or
irrational.

Who's covering up? I don't need pictures of 10,000 body bags, an
article telling me there were 10,000 of them is enough. This demand
for pictures is nothing more than another cheap photo-op for the libs,
on the backs of the families of the dead.

Maybe you guys need the pictures on the menu, but most of us
understand what we're ordering from the description.

But hey... I would agree to the photos if the mayor of NO and the gov
of LA we standing on top of them all.

"Two Anywhereville teens were killed last night when their car hit a tree.
Police said alcohol was not suspected in the incident. Names are being
withheld pending notification of the victims' families".

Does that sound familiar? Happens all the time on the news. "Pending
notification....."

Is it ethical for one to lie about owning a motorcycle that was never even made?

Who are you to talk about ethics?

Maybe FEMA is trying to protect the mayor and governor who decided that letting
people die was better than relinquishing control or following a plan!

Any deaths that occurred in New Orleans were the fault of the mayor and/or the
governor. How the hell can you blame FEMA for the mayor's failure to follow his
own plan, or the governor's failure to employ her own National Guard?

Access to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local
authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot
enter New Orleans against their orders.

The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to
request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans
following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and
encourage others to come into the city.

Earlier, someone blamed this on FEMA. Funny how the truth eventually outs! Great

Of course, the Red Cross site will be accused of being another right wing
