Wow...cool! I got this vanity call when I upgraded to Extra. I
couldn't believe W4Charleston South Carolina was open....Neither could
my buddies who work for WCSC-TV5...(c;

I had a logbook once.....back when they forced me to write down
everyone I talked to.....

Larry,

Hope you don't mind - I looked up your call.

I have you in my log as KN4IM - SSB, but I don't have
the date or band - I had a corrupted database when I switched
computers.

Small world ain't it?

Hee hee....I love the look on their faces when you pull up in a rusted
out pickup that looks like it's been hauling crab pots for 30
years....(c;

I think you can use dress and your car as a consumer tool. If you
want to be fawned over, borrow someone's new Lexus or Cadillac
Escalade and go boat shopping in your suit dressed-to-kill. If you
want to be left alone to poke around, wear the clothes you mow the
lawn in...and drive your daughter's boyfriend's old Toyota with the
big rust holes in it....(c;

I live by this rule - and it is SOO much fun you can't imagine.

LOL!!

Would you believe that I still have my Novice logs from 1962?

Mine were destroyed in a fire in my home. I lost most everything
before that date....(snif)

I took WA1MKH as a vanity call when I got extra. I was KA1MKH, but
*everybody* on 75 meter AM kept calling me WA1MKH - so I changed it to make
the world right again. LOL

I fought the M and N mixup the whole time I was KN4IM.....it was
AWFUL. I vowed NEVER AGAIN to have calls with N or M or D or B or E
in it. Very confusing.

My second choice was N4 (or maybe it was K4) SEX, which I figured was
real easy to remember....even for me! It was open and available....

But, I always wanted an original W4 call, a bit of nostalgia. Now I
have it for life....er, ah...as long as I'm willing to PAY for
it....dammit.

Why the recurring cost for a vanity call? Once it's on the database,
it's just an FCC RIPOFF!!

Well, most dealers correctly treat you with the disdain you deserve,
Larry. It's not as if you have the ability to buy or finance a large
boat. You're just an ornery tire-kicker.

Well, perhaps it doesn't happen to you for some reason, but it
has happened to me on a couple of occasions, but that's because
I'm kind of impulsive and if I see something that interests me, I
stop to look regardless of my state of dress. Maybe it's because I
dress down more than I dress up.
