Knowing how much gas powerboats use, is it possible that the
$5-6/gallon for gas will be the end of the powerboat?

It depends on your definition of "powerboat", I would think.

My annual fuel budget for our Correct Craft and Alumacraft boats would
still be well under $2,000.00.

I use about 100 to 150 gallons of fuel per season. Fuel cost won't
cause me to decrease my boating.

Our new boat burns about 6 gallons/hour (according to some rough
calculations I made based on a full weekend of use with 4 adults on board,
including tubing and cruising at some decent speeds).

Great timing on my part getting rid of the 32 foot gas guzzler. ;-)

No, but I'll be doing a lot more anchoring close to home rather than trolling
way down south!
