Will you top off when you put her to bed?
 

I saw this question on a boating forum:

(For us northern boaters)

With the price of gasoline skyrocketing will you top off the gas tank before
you put the boat to bed for the winter or hold off in hopes gas pricing will
come down by Spring?

Topping off is the gas tank is a necessity for some folks....others feel
differently and that debate goes on. So let's keep that debate out of this
thread if we can.

I don't top up anymore, but my engine's carburated, so even if there was
some condensation (water in the fuel) a) it could suck it up and b) the
stabil takes care of condensation as well as fuel shelf life.

Actually, it's good to top off the tank when winterizing to avoid condensation
inside the fuel tank.

Did you happen to read my request that we avoid the debate over topping off
or not? ;-)

So are you going to top off with these high fuel prices or wait till spring
in hopes fuel prices drop?

I just got Cruis'n Rulz! out for the first time this year last weekend.
Been sitting with a full tank since Sept '04. With Stabil, the engine
started and ran fine; burned up the entire tank and towed home on E. In
fact, running it on the muffs in the driveway to hose out the salt, it
ran out of gas after about 2 minutes. I always fill up on the tow home,
but decided not to this time. Now, what with Catrina, gas is slated to
go WAY up. A quandary...

my boat just became a rather expesive gas storage tank. with a 10ft hose I
can syphon out 5 gallons in 10 minutes.
