Voluntary vs. Mandatory PFD's

Link to an interesting item on the subject. NTSB would like to see more
adults wearing PFD's.

This strikes me as another example of governmental bureaurocracy run
amok in the interest of self importance and self preservation. I'm all
for boating safety but education and awareness are the right tools for
the job, not legislation

Another right wing idiot says he wants all of us to drown. Don't you yet
know the government knows what's best for you and for all of us. Don't you
know that perhaps even one or two of those NTSB folks have been on a boat.
One may even own a boat and use it once a year or so. Those guys are so
busy minding our business they have little time for fun in boats.

You should be glad our tax $$ are going to those who care so much about US
that they regulate our behavior to save us from ourselves.

But, how about helmets. Those racing boat guys wear helmets... shouldn't we
all? Now there is an idea worth persuing. Don't'cha think?

The sea is totally apolitical with its own rules and enforcement plan
which have worked for thousands of years: Those who are careful and
use common sense get to keep enjoying the oceans, and those who don't
get visited by Mr. Darwin.

It's simple, and it works.
