Computer Build Success!
Though my real close-in vision stinks, I managed to get my new desktop
computer put together, though I still have one component to add when I next open up the case, a DVD burner. Now, of course, we're without broadband for a week or so, because the jolt that damaged our big tulip poplar fried the cable that goes from our house to the utility company's box. "Miss Utility" or her agent has to come by before the utility company will dig for a new line. Hope she's topless. I went with an ASUS board again. This is the third ASUS-based system I've put together. The board quality and features are damned good, and the documentation is easy enough for an English major like me to understand. Everything was stuffed into a black aluminum LianLi case this time. Even the el cheapo LianLi cases are nice...I bought an el cheapo. I need to download some upgrades for a few software programs I already had, but at 28.8? Blech. |
If the utility company replaces broadband cable it is worth asking if
they are putting a "lightning arrestor" at the cable entrance to the building. |
