Towing boat behind 5th wheel
Anyone out here tow a boat behind their 5th wheel?
Does it require a special license? What's involved? |

In Calif. you can tow, but be very careful of where you go. Use only truck stop fueling, as observed a 5er and boat, get stuck in an Arco station in Tracy, CA. Could not back up and not enough room to pull forward. Do not know how the resolved the situation. |
Legal pretty much throughout the southern states. I've not done it but have
seen it done. Fellow who was in the site next to me at the P'cola NAS Campground does it. He has a hitch attached beneath the bumper of the fiver and the necessary electrical hook up and that's it. He does not attempt to back up but it could be done with a ground guide and some hand held radios. He drops the boat & trailer off at the NAS Marina enroute to the campground. As soon as he's situated in his camp site he returns to the marina and recovers the boat. Navy does not permit boat trailers at the CG over night so he leaves the boat/trailer at the marina when not boating. Before leaving he sets up the boat/trailer at the marina for hook up to the fiver. Fueling can be an issue with a tandem tow so it's necessary to plan ahead.
