Cracked housing?

I'm looking at a twin engine 1979 wellcraft 250xl that has a 90% restore
done on it BUT one of the Alpha drives has a cracked housing can this be
repaired?

I found the boat sitting at a marina but haven't seen it in person yet. I
will request pictures as soon as I get the chance. The engines in the boat
have just been 100% rebuilt and the company that did the rebuild has had the
boat on their lot for two years now, the own has not been around to settle
the bill so the company is selling the boat for $6000 to recover their
costs. The engines were always stores inside and recently installed for
sale. IDEAS? THOUGHTS? This boat is really far away from me so I'd like
opinions and reviews of this boat before I make the trip, haven't been able
to find anything good through google.

Do an online search for new/rebuilt Alpha outdrives.......they are not that
expensive.

Often from water freezing in it. Sometimes not crtical and can be filled
with epoxy if not. No fix will last and the cases are cast aluminum. Not
that expensive to replace a housing though.

A good prop shop should be able to weld it. If in the West, UPS it to
Phil's Props in Redding, CA.

The boat is actually in Florida so unless things have changed a lot since
I've last been there I would rule out the freezing part.

Any idea where I can get some good honest reviews on this boat? Maybe I'll
post a new question to the group regarding this?
