SEATTLE MAN SENTENCED FOR FALSE DISTRESS CALL

Audio of phone call to 911 and CG available

SEATTLE - A Seattle man was sentenced to three days in jail and two
years on probation for making a false distress call to the King County
911 center and Coast Guard.

The man was sentenced on July 18 in a City of Seattle court.

The man told 911 operators and Coast Guard rescuers that he was on a
sinking boat in Puget Sound. The July 15 call for assistance initiated
an immediate search by a Seattle-based Coast Guard boat.

After being notified of the call from the 911 center, Coast Guard
Station Seattle launched a rescue boat and searched the region for more
than an hour, finding no signs of a vessel in distress.

Rescuers ultimately determined the call was likely a hoax and worked
with the Seattle Police Department in tracking down the man making the
call from his home. He was arrested shortly after midnight on July 16.

The Coast Guard reminds people that false distress calls place
unnecessary risk on would-be rescuers and interfere with legitimate
search and rescue cases. False calls also cost taxpayers hundreds of
thousands of dollars annually. It costs approximately $1,500 per hour
to operate a Coast Guard 41-foot utility boat, while a helicopter or
larger cutter may cost from $9,000 to $12,000 an hour.

Media representatives may arrange interviews with Coast Guard
representatives on the subject of hoax calls. Please call the above
number to make arrangements.

Why doesn't the people now own his bank account, and if he had an interest
in a house, that too?

Maybe that is your problem about politics. Government and the people.
Separate in your world. I go back the the founding documents of our
republic. Government of and by the people. You ever notice in a criminal
court case it is "The people versus xxxx" Not "the government versus xxxx"

Ahoy, Pee Fritz

Do you need to insert your obsession with this mysterious "Kevin"
person into every thread?

Do you have any comments about false emergency calls to the Coast Guard?

Kevin has a long hard road ahead of him, to catch up to our lying, boatless,
village idiot Krause.

For all you or I know, they do.

The article appears to only address the criminal matter and the perp
was sent to jail. If you are saying that the government should sieze
his assets to cover the cost of the rescue operation, that is likely a
civil matter that may have already been, or will be addressed.
