Anybody have one of these? If so, how is it?

We messed with some similar stuff, and my opinions come as a diver,,

They are hardly worth fooling with unless you boat in water with fantastic
visibility, like 20 feet or more. Average river/bay water has about 3 feet
of visibility and that's it. So if you can't place the camera within three
feet of something, it isn't worth your effort. You can't really float along
in the current examining the bottom either. When the camera is near enough
to the bottom to see anything, then the camera is usually bouncing of rocks
or bouncing off the bottom from slack in the line due to boat rocking motion.

Hardly more than a mere toy which grows tiresome after the first hour.
If you do buy one, use it in combination with a depth finder to locate
and look at unusual echos that appear to rise up from the bottom.
If you want to see fish. go snorkeling, or get scuba certified.

Hadn't really considered it to be of any practical value. Just thinking of
lowering it around my dock to see what I can see down there.

So what does that $100 (plus tax and shipping) buy you by using it at the
dock?

Yeah, but I won't know if there's anything worth retrieving until I have a
look around with my camera ...

And it's funny you should mention retrieving. When I discovered the camera,
I was looking for Harbor Freight's "market umbrellas," the ones that were
$30 last week but back up to $50 now (dang it), because the one I had blew
off the dock yesterday and broke its support post. I fished all the umbrella
parts out of the river yesterday, but didn't find the lounge chair that it
took with it until this evening. It's amazing how stinky a piece of patio
furniture can get just sitting on the bottom of a river for a day and a
half, I might add.

If you receive their catalogues in the mail, hang on to them
for a bit. If you have one with the $30 price, they will
honor it even if one or more newer catalogues have been
released. Likewise, if you see an item on their website for
less even if you're ordering from the catalogue, get on 800
toll-free horn, speak to a rep and they will also honor the
lower price.

I was thinking of hooking up the underwater camera for
rear-view monitoring in my Tahoe: high inside to look
down/through the barn door or low outside to one side of the
tow hitch. I'm trying to visualize if it would help with
retrieving a boat or hooking up to the trailer.
