Briggs & Stratton Outboard

I need a small motor for a 14 ft aluminum jonboat. Have been trying to find
a good 9.9 OMC. However I am curious about the relatively new 5 hp Briggs &
Stratton. I saw one at Gander Mountain and it looks like a pretty tough
little unit. Seems to be priced at the bottom of the ladded.

Has anyone had any real world experience? I'm wondering if with a single
cylinder and 4 cycle if it has an annoying pop-pop-pop sound.

Will it do an acceptable job with two adults in a flat bottom boat in creeks
and bays on a large lake?

Ben

It sounds like a lawn mower and will barely push a 10 foot jon boat
with one person at any kind of speed.

It's not a great investment.
