Looks like I've finally got those filters and kill file working well... Sweet... :) -- -Netsock "It's just about going fast...that's all..." http://home.insight.rr.com/cgreen/ |

Sweet... :) Interesting post, Chris. One of your many sock puppets, "netsock" has posted to rec.boats 47 times. Of those 47 time the word "boat" was only mentioned 12 times. Thus, you are on topic less than 26% of the time. Should I note.. pot, kettle, black? Oh it's the NetCop again. Officer Gene O'Kearns. Top O' the Mornin' to ya officer. PS Perhaps I should note that I have kill-filed about 6 posters and the term "OT." That has virtually eliminated the off topic content that I see ( or have to bother to delete). Six people. They change their alias from time to time to insure, in their own mind, that they *will* be heard. They never post with their own name.... ashamed, I guess. Six people. Think about it. I post with my own name lame brain. Guess that I am not one of the "6" then eh? If I am then it shoots your credibility all to hell then. Keep on kill-filtering Gene. It will help you with your anxiety problems.... |

Perhaps leaving the mention of HK out of your comment is what was meant by "revealing your bias." John H On the 'Poco Loco' out of Deale, MD on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay! |

I remember the posts of which *I* was a part. I will *NOT* engage in a good guys vs. bad guys discussion.... as that is what I think started this current childish problem on rec.boats. Skipper was a wannabe boater that gave dangerous and misleading bad advice to newbies. I called his hand on it and he posted for weeks trying to get other people to try to killfile me. He called me names... childish. He tried to start threads belittling other peoples boats... certainly in a time when we *did* talk about boats and the general tone was "enjoy whatever it is you got that floats". He posted reams of OT crap, because he didn't boat... he was a precursor to the people that post reams of OT drivel here. This new breed comes here with a "criminal" mind admittedly seeking to vandalize this newsgroup. Skipper had no such intent, he was a caricature that posted OT just because he was a boating wannabe and wanted to post in a boating related newsgroup, though had nothing boating related to talk about. I was thinking caricature, some people thought of it as good guys vs. bad guys. Perhaps I didn't include HK in my post because, although we were diametrically opposed in the last election and posted strong opposing view points.... he was civil about it... at least to me. Unlike Skipper posted, I didn't have to listen to 18 months of accusations of bestiality, because he didn't agree with me. I've told Harry he posts too much off topic... he does. He has also returned fire with acerbic posts that I thought were best left unanswered. However, I'm posting from *my* experiences and from what people have said or done to me. When this was just Harry and Skipper at each other's throats it was manageable. Mix in the new spate of: Democrat | Republican Haves | Havenots Teachers Suck | Teachers Work Hard Bigboats | Littleboats Liberals | Conservatives Hate Unions | Unions rec.boats isn't about boats | rec.boats is really about boats and you have nothing but chaos and anarchy. Too many people come here now to post ideology.... not boats. They expressly state they come here to spew ideology (not boating) and the more *their* ideology is at odds with *your* ideology the better they like it. More reason to call names, belittle, and generally **** people off... that is, after all, their goal. In this case, the wages of diligence by those off topic posters is to reduce the number of posts per day from around 235 to 135 and reduce the number of on topic posts from about 210 to 45. Is it really that hard to NOT RESPOND to posts that you KNOW will do no good? What is the point to responding to a "your ideology sucks" post. What good can possibly come of it? But, to some, that is how diligence pays off...... Hey, I'm not saying whether you're right or wrong. I was just providing a rationale, based on my observations, for the comment that was made. It seemed to me that Skipper and Harry were pretty much in a dead heat with the mean, name-calling, spiteful posts. Now that Skipper is gone, God bless the man, Harry has pretty much taken over the throne. Of course, their are a couple of strong contenders out there (from both sides of the fence)!
