Title required on a '70 boat in FL, GA?

Does anyone know if a title is required on a boat that age in GA and/or FL?
I can get a bill of sale on a "fixeruper" but no title. The current owner
says it's 26.5'
Thanks, LD

In Georgia boat registration falls under the D.N.R., therefore the
above is of use only for the trailer.

You will not need a title in Georgia. You will need to complete an
application for transfer, or transfer/renewal if it is time to renew
the boat registration as well, and submit it to our office with a copy
of either the bill of sale or the previous owner's boat registration
card. If you don't have either of these documents, you will need to
complete an Affidavit of Ownership

Thanks for the responses. The boat is in GA; I am in GA, so the purchase
will be in GA. The registration # is Alabama and last sticker is '95. It's
been through a couple or more owners in the last few years and most people
would probably take it to the dump (or wherever old neglected rotting boats
go). I am considering purchasing the boat/trailer/350 engine/OMC outdrive
and taking on a two or more year project to fixerup! I don't foresee it
being moved or getting in the water for two years and don't want to start
paying registration fees/taxes now, only to find I won't (can't) use it for
a couple of years or decide it's not worth my time. So......... What
about the 10 year old expired AL registration?

And once you are registered in GA, you can re-register in FL without a
title.

If it takes 2 years to fix, that boat is not worth fixing. If cheap enough,
buy another boat with bad or missing outdrive and swap parts.

I don't mean "full time" I mean every now and then when I feel like working
on the boat instead of doing something else. Another boat is a possibility
(if in fact the outdrive is good).
