Looking for suggestions: 2-3 day kayaking trip with camping
Hello,
I have foldable kayak Folbot Kodiak - I am looking suggestions for 2-3 days trip with camping on the shore. I live in NYC - max driving distance from NYC - about 6 hours. Some kind of round trip, were you can park a car for 2-3 days and when coming back - the car still will be there. Thanks, Zalek |

It's not along the shore, but the NJ Pine Barrens have some opportunities for a 2-day camping trip with a canoe/kayak-in campground such as the one on the Mullica. Both my Folbot Super and Aleut kayaks have camped there several times. It does involve a shuttle which can be arranged with any of several canoe liveries in the area or by using a bicycle (the roads are all very flat making for an easy shuttle ride). |
If you can stand the mosquitos, check out Assateague National Park.
Kayak/camp along the bay side and just walk across the island to access the beach. Watch the wild ponies as a benefit. The mosquitos are bloody hell though. They'll bite right through polypro. The one time I took the trip I used so much DEET, I wound up having strange dreams. I'd still bring the DEET, but I now prefer to slather on Purification Essential oil blend- a combination of citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuce, lavandin and myrtle. You can buy it at www.youngliving.com/animarising OR you can just go to the Pine Barrens! Mothra |
