Mississippi boat rental advice sought

We live in Chicago and are planning a little holiday on the Mississippi. We
have met people that have really enjoyed renting a house boat on the Miss.
We would like to give it a shot. Does anyone have any advice along these
lines:

1 Where is the nicest part of the Miss to spend time just cruising around.
2 Where are nice places to eat just off the river.
3 who are the best folks to rent from right now it seems that Huck's
rentals from Wis. are the front runners
4 any other pieces of advice would be welcomed.

thank you

Trying to determine the structure of a protein by UV spectroscopy was like
trying to determine the structure of a piano by listening to the sound it
made while being dropped down a flight of stairs

I think the river upstream from lacrosse, wisconsin is quite nice. You
can go all the way to Minneapolis, or turn and go up the St Croix, a wild
and scenic river, for a ways.
