propeller noise? yamaha 100 4 stroke
I just bought an Angler 180f (center console) w/ Yamaha 100 4 stroke
2002. At 1500-1900 rpms I have a whining noise coming from the engine. When in full turn to either side the sound is not there and will not occur at any rpm. We just had a new prop Michigan Wheel 13 1/4 x 17" aluminum put on. Could it be the prop? Any ideas on this? The former owner says he had no sound other than the rumble of the 4 stroke. I am stumped. I might try putting the old prop back on. Any thoughts? Thanks |
Of course anything is possible but I have never heard a prop make a whining
sound unless it is cavitating and then your rpms would go way up. My guess is what you are hearing is a whistle coming from the intake at that perticular rpm. At higher rpms either the engine / wind noise is masking the sound or it is not making it with more air going thru. -- Tony my boats and cars at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com - wrote in message oups.com...
