Carb nut?
Took the carb off my little old Merc kicker to clean it. Darn if I
can't find one of the nuts. NUTS!n (this is why I'm such a $hitty mechanic - breakage and losage). Interestingly, local merc dealer doesn't have them, told me to go to hardware store. I found a similar nut locally (1/4 inch, fine thread), but I think the original is an all metal locking nut and I can't find one of those locally. I could scour dealers' bone-yard, or I could order one, but in the mean time, do you think it would do any harm to just use a regular nut with a star washer? Camilo |
Use locktite!

Or use a "stop-nut" with a nylon insert.

Clams Canino wrote: Or use a "stop-nut" with a nylon insert. -W I thought of that - but couldn't find one locally in a fine thread. "Anything" can be ordered, though. I still can't believe I lost that nut. Yes, I regularly lose and break stuff; it's not that. I was positive it just dropped into the lower cowling, but darned if I can't find it, even probing with a little telescoping magnet (yes, it should pick it up if it touches it, I tested with the other nut!). The floor arount the area is, unusually for me, clean and clear, so I'm really stumped. Thanks CP "Camilo" wrote in message oups.com... Woodchuck wrote: Use locktite!
