Ohio River Way's Paddlefest 2005

Dear Paddler,

Mark your calendar for the 4th Annual Ohio River Way Paddlefest (see web site
link below) set for July 8 and 9 in Cincinnati. Please forward this information
to your friends, co-workers and fellow paddlers. They'll be glad you did!

Register on-line today at Ohio River Way’s Paddlefest website. The modest $20
registration fee is the same as last year AND includes your 2005 collector's
edition Paddlefest T-shirt!

This year's Paddlefest will feature the Ohio River Festival on Friday, July 8
from 3:00 - 11:00 p.m. at the Four Seasons Marina. It's free and open to
paddlers and non-paddlers alike!

Enjoy our live music, food, "Paddlefest Brew", gear swap, wooden boat show,
silent auction, outfitter's mart, River Education Expo, boat demo, ACA on-water
paddling instruction, fishing clinic for children, paddling film fest and
overnight camping. If you like rivers and the outdoors, you'll love this event!

If you're paddling the Ohio the next day, drop by the Festival to complete your
registration and drop off your canoe or kayak in our secure "boat check" area
next to the put-in.

Then “Paddle the Ohio” on Saturday, July 9 in the largest on-water paddling
event in the Midwest. This is the only time of the year that the Ohio will be
closed to barge traffic during the day. You can enter one of our three races
• 14 Mile Canoe Race with $3,500 in prize money
• 9 Mile Amateur Race
• New 6 Mile Adult-Youth Race Or you can take your sweet time floating
down the beautiful Ohio stopping if you like to hear one of our brief "Riverbank
Talks" by experts on Ohio River history, ecology, wildlife and geology.

End the morning at our Finish Line Celebration at the Cincinnati Public Landing.
Enjoy music, food, refreshments and watch (or participate in) our "Bridge to
Bridge" sprint races, war canoe races and our inaugural Corporate Raft Race
Challenge, (see our web site for details). Then catch our shuttle busses (more
on hand this year) back to your vehicle at Four Seasons and return to retrieve
your boat from our "boat check" area on the Public Landing.

All the proceeds will benefit The Ohio River Way's work to create hike, bike and
paddling trails along the Ohio River linking river towns, parks, historical and
cultural sites and recreational facilities from Maysville, KY to Madison, IN.

Don't delay... Register on-line today at: www.ohioriverway.org/paddlefest/ for
the Ohio River Way Paddlefest.

Buuuuuuuuuud, if you still read r.b.p and you see this: should I drive
up there (7.5 hours) from Winston-Salem to visit you and to participate
in these festivities?

Richard, have you tried sending a message to Cintibud via BT's "email
member" option. I'm pretty sure he hangs out there.

Hey there, ol' long tall good guy! I was just (yesterday) lookin' at a
Julie Keller Fitzpatrick shot (on the AW website) of you running the
Cascades of the Nantahala.

I s'pose I could try that, though BoaterTalk is such a joke I heven't
been there for years!

Thanks for the note,

Boatertalk's only half a joke now! The joke's now unilateral! Boatertalk has
been split into a boating-only forum and Liquid Lounge, for all the non-boating
chatter. The split has been incredibly successful too! Plus, now if you are a
BT member, you can filter out posts by other BTers who's posts you don't want
to see! (I get filtered a lot! :-) )

IMO BT has changed considerably recently, moving most of the nonesense
to an off-topic forum of its own.

I must admit that I have not spent much time there in the last two
months, ever since I lost my fast internet connection at home (I've
been waiting for a glassfibre connection that is about to be connected
to my house in the next couple of weeks), besides, I went on a two week
kayaking holiday in Greece.

Slowly picking up the connection to the different forums again, but
untill I get a fast connection at home, I don't have the time to keep
up with all of them.
