Mercruiser Trim Stuck

After a long night of searching all around the house for the manual to
no avail i was hoping someone here could send some information my way.

The boat is a early to mid 70's Marlin (looks like a glastron) with a
140hp inboard outboard. I think the sterndrive is an alpha1 but i'm
not positive.

Anyhow, the problem is that the trim is stuck in the up position. My
brother tore down the trim switch and we are left with 4 wires, green,
red, purple and sky blue at the switch. I've read blue for sky (up)
green for grass (down) and that seems to be the case, as crossing the
blue and red causes the relay to click (no motion as the drive is in
the far up position), however crossing the green with the red we have
no click.

Here's where i'm confused. When i track the bundle from the switch
down to the rear of the boat, the blue line is split into 2. The
purple and split blue line are tied together. Green, red and blue go
into a cap which is plugged into the receiving unit.

How is this system supposed to be wired, if it is wired properly am i
correct in saying that the down relay is broken?

Thanks
Justin
