Default Using mixed fuel in autos.

I have about 30 gallons of fuel I mixed for my outboard that I no
longer have and I was wondering if it is safe to use it in my car,
I mixed it two years ago and added the required amount of Stabil at
the same time.

If you fill your tank with oil mix you could cause all sorts of problems

for
yourself. As a minimum, your car is going to smoke a bit, which wouldn't

be
good if someone reported you as being a "gross polluter".

My real concern is that the oil could mess up some of the fuel injection,
oxygen sensors (and other smog stuff) and it might do bad things to the
catalytic converter. If you live in a state that requires periodic smog
inspections you might be surprised when you car fails the next one.

Fixing the smog stuff can be expensive. I wouldn't risk it, I would just
find someone who has an outboard and give the gas to them.

Well, this just isn't the case in my experience. I can't think of any
easier, safer, cleaner solution to disposal of unneeded 50:1 mix, assuming
it's not full of contaminants, water, etc - and that could probably be
filtered with a chamois.

I've put 5-6 gal of 50:1 in the tanks of various cars (older carb and newer
F/I), on many occassions over the past few years. It combines with 5 - 15
gallons of plain gasoline already in the tanks for a net very low oil
content. No smoking, no performance changes, no problems - ever - with
annual emmissions inspection and testing. I have no idea what would happen
if I "filled the tank" with 50:1 - I've always thought it would be more
prudent to mix 5 per car tank to dilute it, it's easy enough to do.
