"The Queen of Nice will soon be cruising Halifax Harbour.

Rosie O'Donnell, her family and a whole bunch of friends will be aboard the
Norwegian Dawn on a family-friendly gay cruise that stops here July 12.

Gregg Kaminsky, who is organizing the cruise with Rosie's partner Kelli,
said Thursday they're stopping in Halifax because it's gay-friendly and
because same-sex marriage is legal here.

"Last year we went to the Bahamas," Mr. Kaminsky said. "We aren't big enough
yet to do more than one cruise a year so we decided to do something
different."

The trip to Halifax will be the second cruise that R Family Vacations has
organized.

"We're the first vacation company aimed at both gays and lesbians and their
families and friends," Mr. Kaminsky said in a telephone interview.

"There are a lot of gay couples that want to be around other gay couples but
don't want to stay up all night partying, or who want to bring their kids
along," he said.

"We wanted to create fun vacations for them, too."
